My Poor Finger...

Last 2 weeks my finger has infection... at first I thought it is normal for me as usually I will peel off the dead skin/side nail (duno which is the correct words for it LOL) and it will just bleed and heal, that all!! But this time it was soooo serious until I can see my finger has slight purplish... then went to see doctor and she told me if unable to recover or become more serious case, then the flesh has to be cut off... Sound soooo scary!!

Really very inconvenient to use without my 3rd finger of my right hand... Often used my 3rd finger on my num pad or keyboard and whenever I used, it hurt!! =( Another worst part is going toilet!! Took more than the usual time! Do you know how I feel?!

I have been a obedient girl and apply cream, take antibotics as what the doctor instructed. Now the finger is recovering and can see the flesh is healing.

Taken when just happened:

Loreal Sale

We went to Loreal Sale at Singapore Expo on 22-Nov. Quite crowded when we reached there at around 1130am. Their Hair Care was not very cheap unless you buy more than 1 or 2. If you get one item, then buy at chinatown will be cheaper. We didn't have the time to go chinatown hence bought the one that the loreal staff recommend for oily scalp so I give it a try. Heehee... anyway not I use mah.LOL! I bought a hair mask abt the same price range as the shampoo. So that the shampoo will feel cheaper than the one I usually bought at chinatown.

I also got one serum for my hair cos for the past few months I almost everydays blow my hair...hence quite dry... After applying, the hair looked better now. Wanted to get the shampoo in light pink bottle but can't cos currently I got to use a specific shampoo for my hair scalp.

Heat Pad

Last Tue, I happened to sit on my colleague's chair and realised there is a heatpad on her chair. It is so good and warm the body up cos office is soooooo cold especially recently keep raining...

Their service is good!! Can deliver to you and the price is inclusive of GST and Delivery Charges and the next day can send over. Now I am using it, no more feeling so cold. Although can't warm the whole body but at least some parts i.e. butt, thighs and waist. Now not afraid of drinking cold cold coke with ice. LOL!

Make it in Time!!

Heehee I made it in time for Eileen's bdae gift last Sunday before leaving my home to attend Yeron's Wedding Dinner. Few days ago, I have finished one for Licia. It was so stress that I planned to finish at 5pm but din make it and in the end I finished at 6pm. It was so rush that I have to get everything done with 1hr including bathing, blowing hair, makeup and steam my dress. Hahahaha Supposed to complete last Sat but have headache for whole day in the end stopped work and went to bed early. Heehee the photos were taken in a cab when I was on the way to the wedding dinner. My Hp cam will produce a sound whenever a photo is snapped and the sound is unable to disable or change to silent..Duno did the taxi driver thinking what the hell the lady is doing at the back??? LOL.

Too Sudden...

From yesterday night until now, my feeling and mood is not so good.. Feel sad as someone who has taught me before and imparted his wisdom and teachings. He was very young professor died at 41 years old...

It stated in the newspaper, my paper.

NUS PROF DIES AFTER BEING HIT BY TRUCK

A TRUCK hit an engineering professor of the National University of Singapore on Tuesday evening and killed him. Associate Professor Ooi Ban Leong, 41, who was taking his usual walk home from the campus, was then crossing the road at the junction of Commonwealth Avenue West and Clementi Road at 8.30pm He died at the scene from severe head injuries. The truck driver, an unidentified man in his 50s, is helping police with investigations.

One of my gal friends tell me that she has a rather unconventional concept about people dying. All our loved ones and people we know will all die, including ourselves. She guess that is a destination for all of us, no one can escape from it. So, we always have to cherish the treasure those still alive now, because we never know when we are leaving them, or they leaving us. The more valuable a person becomes to us, the more we resist to think that they may leave or die before us; however, for her, the more the person is valuable to her, such as her parents, her sister, and hubby, and her best friend etc, she tend to try to ‘imagine’ their deaths before that day arrives, so that she has spread some grieve along the path. At the same time, that always help us to remember that they may not be around tomorrow, or next minute, so when we understand the kind of sadness we may go through, we will learn to cherish the time with them

When she was small, she always imagined her grandpa dying, because she loved him so much, she would spend most of her school vacation at his house, because she think logically he should die before her mum, so she will rather spend more time with him first. When he really died, she was very sad, but she had never thought that he shouldn’t die, because we all die. she was sad and glad that she felt sad, because we feel sad only because we feel for the people. She still miss him all the time, and glad that we are able to miss someone after he dies, because that goes to shows that she must have many memories with him.

Mini Project B - Xiaowen

Long time didn't blog abt my mini projects... This is another mini project that I have done within 2days. Cos I abandoned other mini projects and did this first. First time doing this pattern, the head didn't look nice and the eyes abit too wide apart. But overall it is still looked okie. Heehee...

I have named it as Xiaowen. I also found an owner for her and her owner is Ms. Wendy. Do you notice that Xiaowen has a small shawl at her neck?? Her owner always afraid of cold and she would wear a thick jacket and a blanket in office to cover her legs and feets. LOL!! Hence I added it to show Xiaowen also same as her owner, also scared of cold!! Heehee.

Significance of Chinese Themes in Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony

Invention of Movable Print Blocks
Pi Sheng, during the Ch'ing-li period, Sung (1041-1048), invented the proto-type of movable print blocks. 300 years before Gutenberg.
Guqin (Father of Chinese Music Instrument)

Not to be confused with guzheng which has movable bridges. Legend has it that the qin, the most revered of all Chinese musical instruments, has a history of about 5,000 years. The legend states that the legendary figures of China's pre-history - Fuxi, Shennong and Huang Di, the "Yellow Emperor" - were involved in its creation.

Confucius - Analects

Recited: "Within the Four Seas, all men are brothers".

Invention of Compass
The earliest reference to a specific magnetic direction finder device is recorded in a Song Dynasty book dated to 1040-44. Some controversies. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compass

Admiral Zheng He (Ming Dynasty) (1371-1433 AD)

Almost a century before Christopher Columbus's arrival in the Americas and Vasco da Gama's in India. All the ships of Columbus and da Gama combined could have been stored on a single deck of a single vessel in the fleet that set sail under Zheng He. He led seven great western maritime expeditions, traversing the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean into the Persian Gulf and Red Sea, and reaching as far west as the east coast of Africa.

Corbel System - Tou-Kung

See Joseph Needham's Science and Civilization in China: Builiding technology. Interlocking bracketing system to support corners of building without need of nails.

Invention of Silk - Silk Road

About 2700-2650 B.C.E., the Chinese began making silk. According to Chinese Tradition, the part-legendary emperor, Huang Di (alternately Wu-di or Huang Ti) invented the methods of raising silk worms and spinning silk thread. But the same tradition credits not Huang Di, but his wife Lei-tzu, with discovering silk-making itself, and also the weaving of silk thread into fabric.

Invention of Gunpowder - Fireworks

Many historical materials indicate that gunpowder first appeared before the Tang Dynasty (618-907). From 300 to 650 AD several recipes were written about inflammable mixtures. SOme historians date the invention of gunpowder at 850AD when a Toaist book warned of three specific elixir forumlas as too dangerous to experiment.

Invention of Paper

AD 105 is often cited as the year in which papermaking was invented. In that year, historical records show that the invention of paper was reported to the Chinese Emperor by Ts'ai Lun, an official of the Imperial Court. Recent archaeological investigations, however, place the actual invention of papermaking some 200 years eariler. Ancient paper pieces from the Xuanquanzhi ruins of Dunhuang in China's northwest Gansu province apparently were made during the period of Emperor Wu who reigned between 140 BC and 86 BC.

'Fou' Drums - the ancient Chinese Container for Wine

In the Qin Dynasty (200 BC), people sart to hit the 'Fou' to express welcome to friends, especially for friends from far way. Drums were used in Xia Dynasty to imitate sound of thunder. There are 2008 drummers in the ceremony.

Photo Taking Time

After the ceremony, Mr Yong went to take his prof camera from his car and we started taking photos!! He mentioned that the photos not taken much.. But I told him I find the photos quite a numbers liao. But only the four of us photo (group photo) only 2 pcs...

Finally!!!

Heehee ... the convocation is on last last Sunday, 13-Jul. Until now then I posted, too busy these past 2 weeks. No time to post.

Seating time for graduates and guests commences one hour prior to the official start time of each ceremony. To ensure that the ceremony will start on time, all graduates must be seated inside the UCC Auditorium at 9.40am

So we supposed to leave the house after breakfast. Due to I overslept and we left the house around 8:35am. Then we reached the UCC Hall's car park at 9am and we are so blur.. Keep forgetting to take this and that as we left our bags in the car. No intention to bring up so many things. When we reached the UCC Hall, we heard the announcement that the Robing room will be closed in 20min time and got to rush over quickly and it was crowded inside hence got to wait for a while before we can go into and change. After changing, my mum and sister have entered the auditorium and can't take photos with them first. So I took with Mr Yong with his and my hp camera.

After 9:40am, we went in to be seated and abt 10am sharp, the ceremony started with the national Anthem. Heehee... can't remember waited for how long then it was our faculty turn. Then we have our Attendance Card ready and proceed towards presentation on stage. The Attendance Card handed to the marshal on duty just before I proceed on stage. It contain a barcode which is swiped and my details will appear on-screen for reading out by the ceremony officical, just as I walked up the stage to be presented to the Presiding Officer. After that, I picked up my degree scroll and transcript en route back to my seat.

I still can remember that when the last graduate on stage, everyone clapped loudly and with joy! Heehee so funny.. I think the last graduate must be shock!

The ceremony is ended with the national anthem and the next few min the balloons dropped from the ceiling.

After leaving the auditorium, it's Photo Taking Time!! LOL!

Mini Project A Status #2

Yesterday has combined most of the parts up... left abt 10% not completed for this doll cos I feel that his bow tie is quite small so decide to crotchet it slightly bigger. I have decided his name! Let's called him, Michael. Heehee... but this mini project is not consider 1OO% complete as he has a friend that is processing wor... Hahahaha!

I feel Michael very cute... looked very short. =P Did you notice one of the legs not placed properly? Heehee... after sewing the opening of that "leg" and realised that it should not be like this but no choice liao cos unable to un-sew it and lazy to crotchet it as that "leg" is in black color due to my house lighting is not bright enough so I do not want to stress my eyes... So just joined it with his body..

No picture to post for his friend cos I haven't sew the eyes and mouth of his friend. Wanted to do it together with Michael but after I completed Michael, it is already quite late hmmm the time was around 10:30pm. Tonight also unable to do because I am doing for mini project B. Hahaha many mini projects are running at the same time. LOL!

Chosen two games for him that are Dark Sector and Metal Gear Solid 4.

Hope you like the Gift! Happy Father's Day!

Mini Projects Status

Recently no updates for all the mini projects... as my fingers are very painful and can't really continue with them. Yesterday felt that my fingers have slightly recovered and tried to do mini project B and spent one whole afternoon doing one small part due my fingers are having blisters, peeling skins etc so the processing is slow...In the end, I stopped the work at around 6pm.

Last Saturday

Has met up with Yong to get something for Father's Day Gift. We decided to eat Sashimi in Parkway before going town as afraid the shop did not have the stock. After taking our early lunch, it's around 11+am still consider quite early and waiting for them to reply my email regarding abt the stock status... We went to Giant for shopping my grocery. But after buying, there is no reply hence we decided to go ahead to town.

When we reached there, it was our turn as not much people. Maybe few min or so later, quite a lot of people was queueing up in the shop. Heehee the gift is cum his birthday gift as well which we usually will combine the present. As his birthday fall early next month so we usually will get expensive gift for him.

The time is 1:45pm after getting Father's Day Gift, the next stop is to go to sinseh for me and him...hmmm washed his car so that he can pick me up later. I reached abt 2:10pm it's already long queue for the Sinseh Yu and I knew have to wait for at least 45min as the beds are fully occupied and there are only three of them.. Too tired of waiting hence dozed off at the clinic heehee...

About 3pm, yong called me and asked whether I am done but I told me not my turn yet... So he went to my home first and bathed my little girl, Kesia. Heehee... I escaped this time Hahahah no need to bathe her by myself.

Can't really remember the timing abt 3:45pm then it's my turn *Sad*. Wait sooooooooo long.... Sigh then I left the place at 4:30pm. My half of the Saturday is spent like this... Luckily no more classes heehee otherwise will feel wasted for my Sat. Took bus back with Anne then she headed to NTUC Supermarket as for me, went back home. Kesia is so happy when I reached home as if I have not seen her for many days... LOL! So 热情! Making me feel that she is SO sweet!

About 5pm, went to buy the Ocean Curry Fish Head and headed back to his home for dinner. LOL!

Supposed to put the eyes first before finished the body. But as a beginner does not know abt it and completed the whole body then realised the eyes are not added on. Then I used the round pliers to poke the area that the eyes needed to put and for the wooden chopstick to expand the area. Spent whole Sunday doing it. Hahahaha. Finally this mini project is completed!

I have found an owner for it and the owner is Ms Supervisor!

Ms Supervisor, pls don't mind the workmanship hor. =P

Mini Project A Status #1

There are many mini projects running concurrently... In order not to confuse the updates hence decide to add the alphabet to represent each mini project.

Mini Project A:

Think most of you can guess what is this. Yup, you are right! It is a human. Able to tell it is a boy or girl?

Heehee... I like this doll very much cos I find that my skill for crotchet is improving. =P Although I mention that the skill is improving but hor this doll has abit defective.. defective in here is not referring to the real meaning of this word. I saying this because the doll is not 100% perfect of my requirements. Due to time constraint, I got to move on to the next step otherwise I will redo, redo, redo and redo until it meets my standard. LOL!

Let me think what name should I address this doll. Will able to address his/her name in my next update.

New needles

Last Tuesday went to Spotlight to buy super long needles for my mini projects. Stayed there for almost one hour as there are so many choices in a pack... In the end, I bought 4 in a pack, the shortest one measured abt 79mm. Very long hor!

When I went back home, I still thinking whether I make the wrong choice getting that pack. Very indecisive hor... Until yesterday, I tried the 89mm long needle. Excellent! Suitable for my mini project. Duno how to describe the usefulness for that length. Really Good!

Monday, June 2, 2008

Mini Project Status #4

The needle broke due to my roughness. Hence 80% is completed. Yong said its arm looked very muscle and fat! Hahahaha so funny. I think I use hook size 2 that why looked big.

Now I thinking who to give... heehee... if the person who received it, pls don't mind the poor workmanship. Cos I am beginner wor... LOL!

I am so rough...

Heehee... yesterday was happily combining the parts together and looking forward for the completed pcs... Suddenly the needle broke! I am so sad.. cause it is very difficult to find the long needle... Luckily I used a slightly shorter needle to complete the part that I was doing. But in the end unable to complete 100%.

She said will be better for me then I told her if 2 weeks later still haven't recovered then I will try to take the medicine LOL!

She recommended not to wear sandals but with less than 0.5inch heels. But I told her it is very hard to find... recently whenever I walked past those shoes/heels shops I will drop in and take a look... But none caught my eyes... =(

Yesterday went to mtm for their facial. Tried out their Aloe Collagen A and Pure Oxgyen Injection & Mask. My skin looks more radiance and refreshing. The dead skins, blackheads, whiteheads, oil pores are removed. But not 100% for blackheads as some are inside the skin. Hence got to make another trip down in another 2 weeks later.

The beautician looked professional and din really hard sell their services & products. During the facial, we just chit-chatting other stuffs. She is a very nice lady! Younger than me, her age i think is 20+. Heehee... making me feel that I am so old now =P
