It's arrived yesterday...

ROOTOTE Bag has arrived yesterday. How did I get to know this brand???

I get to know it from Jonathan Yong who helping his wife promoting her newly brought in product and forwarded the email to my friends and colleagues.

Thanks to Raymond and his mil helping us to get it from Japan!

After I came back from lunch, I changed my small bag to the ROOTOTE! Wuhahahaha! So nice! I love it!!

Rootote

Beauty and perfection lies in simplicity. Incorporating this Japanese ideal on aesthetic design into its various bag collections, ROOTOTE proves totes can be simultaneously functional, environmentally sound and versatile. These bags have inner pockets that offer a quick and clutter-free search for that one item. Each bag has the brand's signature "ROO" pocket, a cleverly concealed zippered side pocket named after the kangaroo. Launched in 2001, ROOTOTE's extraordinary range of "compact environment friendly bags" and "baby roos" among others is a refreshing alternative from overdone bags.

Things are not always what they seem

Two travelling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guestroom. Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, "Things aren't always what they seem."

The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest. When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field? The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel how could you have let this happen? The first man had everything, yet you helped him, she accused. The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let the cow die.

"Things aren't always what they seem," the older angel replied. "When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn’t find it."

"Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow instead. Things aren't always what they seem."

Sometimes that is exactly what happens when things don't turn out the way they should. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every outcome is always to your advantage. You might not know it until some time later...

Some people come into our lives and quickly go…
Some people become friends and stay awhile...
Leaving beautiful footprints on our hearts...
And we are never quite the same because we have made a good friend!!

Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow a mystery.
Today is a gift.
That's why it's called the present!

My love will get you Home

if you wander off too far,
my love will get you home
if you follow the alone star,
my love will get you home

if you ever find yourself losing long alone,
get back on your feet and think of me,
my love will get you home, boy,
my love will get you home
if the bright lights blind your eyes,
my love will get you home
if your troubles break your strike,
my love will get you home

if you ever find yourself losing long alone,
get back on your feet and think of me,
my love will get you home, boy,
my love will get you home
if you ever feel ashamed,
my love will get you home
whenever is only you too blame,
my love will get you home

if you ever find yourself losing long alone,
get back on your feet and think of me,
my love will get you home, boy,
my love will get you home

if you ever find yourself losing long alone,
get back on your feet and think of me,
my love will get you home, boy,

He has been helping me alot! Overall not that fantastics but appearance looked nice. Hope Baby Ashley will not mind wor...

I did not do full blown quilting as I know that I am unable to handle it. Hence sew double square stitch line to join the patchwork and the quilt batting so that the batting will not shift.

Ugly Teeth Mould

Notice that the mould has upper front teeth that were tilted inwards? Sound familiar right?! Heehee... That's belong to me!

No more choosing of the colour for plastic ring and now I have said good bye to it! LOL! Last Wednesday has picked up my retainer and got to wear for 24/7. Only remove the retainer during my eating. Not really used to it as I experience a lot of saliva in my mouth. My orthodontist has advised me to get a container to keep my retainer when I remove it for certain reasons hence bought a Fusia colour for my retainer. Not cheap wor cost S$3.80! Hahaha Doris has given me a sticker label and when she passed it to me I was wondering what is it for... She told me it is a LOST & FOUND label. Heeehee.. so cute right?!

After Braces always Retainers

Why retainers?

After your orthodontic treatment is finished, and your braces are removed, you will need retainers to hold your teeth in their new positions.

For how long do I need to wear retainers?

It takes time for the bone and all the tissues around your teeth to reorganize and therefore it is necessary to use retainers until your bite stabilizes. In the first month after the braces are removed, the risk of relapse is very high. Relapse means that the teeth will go back to near the original positions. Rotated teeth can take up to one year or more to stabilize after treatment. If you had gaps between your teeth before treatment, the retention period will be held longer.

Usually retainers are worn for as long a time as you have had your braces. If your teeth move back to their original positions, you may need fixed braces again to correct them.

What will my retainers look like?

The retainers are individually designed to prevent teeth from going back to original positions. The retainer can be a removable appliance or a fixed wire bonded at the back of your front teeth.

Do I have to wear them all the time?

Your orthodontist will prescribe the retention plan that is best for you. Some retainers are used full time in the first 6 months, and after that, just at night for a few years. Other retainers are worn full time 4-7 days, and after that, just at night. Fixed retainers are normally kept in place for 5 years.

It is important that you use your retainers as instructed.

Removable retainers should be taken out during eating, contact sports and when you brush your teeth. To clean the retainers, remove them first and brush them in

tap water using a toothbrush and some toothpaste. Brush your teeth after this.

The safest place for your retainers is in your mouth. If you are not using the retainers they should always be kept in a box. There is a great risk of loosing retainers if they are wrapped in tissue paper after you remove them from your mouth.

How will retainers affect my daily life?

A removable retainer has a wire holding the front teeth. It will be visible but much less than the fixed braces. If you have a removable retainer in your upper jaw, it will take you one to two days to get accustomed to them and be able to speak properly. It is normal to experience a lot of saliva in your mouth with a new retainer. Always bring the box for your retainers to be kept in should you need to remove them for some reason. If you have a fixed retainer, you should spend more time to brush the back of your teeth. You have to brush all around the wire so that calculus will not form. You will be instructed on how to use dental floss with a floss-threader. You have to remember not to use your front teeth to bite on hard food and objects. Fixed retainers do not affect speech.

Will my teeth never change when the period of retention is over?

Bone has the capacity to change and remodel for as long as we live, that is why a broken bone can heal. From 20 to 50 years of age, faces mature and teeth continue to push forward, causing crowding of the lower front teeth.

This happens regardless of whether you have had wisdom teeth removed, extractions of teeth or previous orthodontic treatment for crowded teeth.

To avoid the risk of late crowding, removable retainers can be worn at night for a longer period and fixed retainers kept in for more than 5 years. Adult patients usually sleep with their retainers on for the rest of their lives, if they want their teeth in perfect alignment.

Straightening Teeth

Orthodontics is treatment to improve the alignment of the teeth. Some people call this "straightening of crooked teeth". There are now several ways of straightening teeth and making your smile more attractive.

"Braces" - the layman's term for the appliances that are fixed to the teeth to straighten them.

Braces can also be discreet if they are made of porcelain (ceramic). Porcelain, or ceramic, braces are often worn by adults who don't want their braces to be so noticeable. Unless someone is really up close to you, porcelain braces are barely noticeable. Ceramic braces cost more than metal ones.

Fixed braces consist of brackets and bands bonded or cemented to your teeth (to get a hold of them), and very thin metal wires that gently push your teeth into their right positions. The wire is tied into the brackets with a steel ligature or a coloured plastic ring. Some brackets have clips to hold the wires and no ties are needed. Brackets can be made of metal or tooth coloured ceramic or plastic. Ordinary fixed braces are bonded to the front of your teeth. There are also braces that can be bonded on the back of your teeth (lingual braces).

Steps in Fixed Braces Treatment

First Visit:

X-rays, photos and impressions for plaster study models of your teeth are done. Your orthodontist will plan your treatment using these records. Very often permanent teeth are removed when they are crowded and there is not enough space in the jaws for all of them. The extractions are done just before or just after the fitting of your braces.

Second Visit:

Your orthodontist will explain the treatment plan and the braces suitable for your condition. Before braces are fitted, separators (small plastic “doughnuts”) are placed between your molars for a week to create spaces for the molar bands but depend s on individual.

Third and Fourth Visits:

Bands are cemented and brackets are bonded to the front of your teeth.

Subsequent Visits:

Every 4 to 8 weeks. Adjustments are made to the braces by way of wire-changes, adding springs, elastics or other accessories.

NOTE: Accessories are necessary to make your braces work. Elastics are often used to get your upper and lower teeth to bite together properly. Facemask, headgear or biteplate are sometimes used with fixed braces. It is very important to use all accessories exactly as you have been told, if not, progress of the treatment stops and may in some cases, reverse.

When treatment is completed:

Your fixed braces will be removed at a deband appointment, followed by removal of cement and polishing of your teeth. Moulds of your teeth in their new positions are taken to make retainers. After your braces are removed, you will need retainers to hold your teeth in their new positions for the next few years.

How will braces affect my daily life?

Speech: With regular fixed braces, speech is normally not affected at all. However, if your condition requires a palatal expander appliance to be fitted at the roof of your mouth, this may interfere with your speech. If you have lingual braces, you will take some time to learn to speak properly with the braces.

Brushing with braces: With braces on, your teeth are more difficult to clean. Do not leave food on your braces. Brushing your teeth properly after every snack and meal will reduce the risk of decay and gum disease. In addition, 5 minutes of brushing are needed every morning and night. Have your toothbrush available to brush after meals as well as at your orthodontic visits. You can use disclosing solution to check if your teeth are clean. You will need to replace your toothbrush more often as it will wear out faster.

Eating and diet restrictions: Eating hard food or biting on large pieces of food may dislodge the brackets or bands and damage the wires. Avoid eating nuts and biting on nails or pencils. Do cut hard fruits into small and thin pieces before eating them. Avoid food and drinks with high sugar content such as sweets and soft drinks.

Pain and discomfort: It takes up to one week to get accustomed to your braces. Initially your cheeks and tongue will chafe from rubbing against the brackets and bands. Your teeth will also feel sore but you will get used to your braces in a couple of days. After each adjustment of the braces, you will also feel some discomfort as your teeth start to move.

偏愛 (Biased Love)

Find this song not bad. Get to know this song from a HK drama serial.

Airport Extreme Base Station

Last Sat we went to Apple store at the Wheelock Place and been searching around the store but unable to find it... In the end we approached the staff and he told us no more... Don't know is he referring to out of stock or has not arrived but we did not ask for further answer and left the place. Before we left Wheelock Place, I bought my fav drink... Coffee Beans Sunrise and got the largest size. Hahaha!

Now I going to introduce the Apple Wireless Router.

Easy wireless networking

Connect your DSL or cable modem to the AirPort Extreme Base Station, then quickly set it up with the easy-to-use AirPort Utility, which is available for both Mac OS X and Windows. Within minutes, you and up to 50 others can use your Macs or PCs to surf the web, stream video, share photos, and more — without wires.2

Up to 5x the performance, 2x the range

AirPort Extreme uses next-generation 802.11n wireless technology3 and features multiple antennas to deliver maximum speed and range throughout your home, classroom, or small office. You can enjoy up to five times the performance and up to twice the range of 802.11g wireless networks.

Print without wires

Have several computers in your home or office but only one printer? No problem. Just connect a printer to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme Base Station and the printer instantly becomes available to everyone on your wireless or wired network. (See system requirements.)

Share your hard drive

Now you can share an external hard drive over your wireless and wired network by simply connecting it to the USB port on your AirPort Extreme. Called AirPort Disk, it's perfect for sharing files, making backups, and more. You can even connect multiple drives and printers using a USB hub (sold separately). (See system requirements.)

Strong security and access control

Rest easy — AirPort Extreme takes strong measures to prevent unauthorized intrusion into your wireless network. It offers a built-in firewall and supports industry-standard encryption technologies including WPA/WPA2 and 128-bit WEP. Yet it's still easy for authorized users to connect to it, thanks to its simple setup utility and powerful access controls.

Works with iPhone, Apple TV and more

AirPort Extreme works flawlessly with Apple TV for wireless video and AirPort Express for wireless music. It's compatible with 802.11a/b/g wireless clients. And because it's dual-band, it works on either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz spectrum, reducing the chance of radio interference.

e.BlackBoard

Have not writing anything for quite some time... Today post will be introducing new main course at e.blackboard and this photo has been taken for few weeks ago but forgotten to post... LOL. The mixture of the sauce is tomato + creamy sauce. Not bad! Although I am not a cheesezy person. Will write more abt the description etc if I going there again. As they have several no. of new main courses. Suddenly I got the craving now... Hahaha Can see that I am hungry now... but impossible to fill my stomach cos it's late and no supper for me as I think I have put on weight recently... =P

ROLLERtoaster

Saw an interesting toaster!

ROLLERtoaster:

At the dawn of 1909, the first electrical toaster was designed. The earliest pop up toaster then took a further 15 years to emerge from its predecessor. Ever since then, pop up toasters has dominated the whole of 19th century as wellas the early 20th century. In our pursuit towards designing better cell phone, televisions, etc; we have evolved from cumbersome cell phones to the slim and chic cell phones of today. Bulky set top box television to the desirable slender plasma screen. We have leaped tremendous folds in pursuing better design for these products and yet why some products like the taosters have not progress much in the past 80 years?

Could we perhaps design a toaster that is sleek, compact and modern? Or perhaps new ways of toasting bread?

Our dept gave Mika-san a farewell dinner at Pasta Fresca Da Salvatore last Fiday. Booked 2 tables at the Boat Quay Branch. But there was no crowd on that day... It seem like our dept booked the whole 2nd floor.. but it was not. LOL!

The menu had starters, pastas, pizzas and desserts. Luckily we did not order main courses otherwise we couldn't able to finish them. Personally feel that their standard drops... not as nice as last time I went which was many years ago...

Transformers - Decepticons

Megatron – is the leader of the Decepticons. He will stop at nothing to establish his empire and destroy the Autobots, starting with Optimus Prime.

Barricade (Saleen 5281 Mustang) – is a born hunter. On Cybertron, he made his name traking and destroying fleeing Autobots. On Earth he took the form of a police car to subvert the public’c trust in authority.

Starscream – has delusions of grandeur. He chose to resemble an F-22 jet because ot’s the pinnacle of human technical achievement. He serves Megatron but longs to fill his shoes.

Blackout – lives for the chaos of the battlefield and delights in destruction. As a military helicopter, Blackout is also the heavy lifter that other Decepticons reply on for transport over long distances.

Frenzy – is a chaotic spy turned boom box, sent by the Decepticons to infiltrate enemy strongholds.

Transformers - Autobots

The Earth is caught in the middle of an intergalactic war between two races of robots, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, which are able to change into a variety of objects, including cars, trucks, planes and other technological creations.

Optimus Prime (18 Wheeler) : is the heroic leader of the Autobots. He is the personification of courage, strength and integrity. His personal motto is that “ Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.”

Bumblebee (Camaro) – is the ultimate robot in disguise. What he lacks in size and strength. He makes up for with courage. He enjoys the company of humans and would do anything for this Earthly friends.

Jazz (Modified Pontiac Solstice) – picked his sports car form because it’s the epitome of style. If there’s one thing he digs about Earth, it’s human culture.

IronHide (Modified GMC Topkick 6500) – is the toughest Autobot around. More than one Decepticon has busted an O-ring just from seeing him narrow his eyes. He sees himself as the cold, steel fist backing up Prime’s inspiring words.

Ratchet (Modified Hummer H2) – is the Autobot’s chief mechanic, enginner and medical expert. There’s nothing he can’t fix. As as pacifist, he’d rather solve problems peacefully than fight.

Looking after your dog after Intraocular Surgery

The following information sheet is a guide only as each case varies and we will advise if your dog requires different care.

What to look for......
Pls monitor your dog's eye for any sign of
1. Mucky Discharge

2. Squinting

3. Redness

4. Cloudiness

It is normal to have slight redness at the top of the eye (in the white) after surgery. There is often also some cloudiness at the top of the cornea, adjacent to the sutures. This redness and cloudiness is usually reduced with the cortisone drops (Maxidex or Prednefrin Forte).

Strict Rest!
Strict Rest is necessary for the first 7-10 days post surgery, pls keep your dog inside if possible.
- Try to stop or minimise barking

- Lead walking for toileting only

- Do not allow pulling on a lead as this increases the pressure to {PATSEX 4} head, use a harness if possible

- Ball games are not allowed or any other toys that causes encourage head shaking for approximately 6 weeks post surgery

- After 7-10 days gentle lead walking is allowed. Ensure that your dog does not get over excited, if necessary walk along quiet streets etc.

- After 4-6 weeks off-lead exercise is allowed

Bathing
It is fine to bath your dog two weeks after surgery. Avoid getting shampoo in the eye.

Elizabethan Collar
Is in place for your dog's own protection and must left on at all times for 7 days.
Try to keep the collar clean at all times. Check for skin irritation under the E collar. Elevating food and water bowls (i.e. on a step) may make it easier for your dog to eat.

Post Operative Checks
Post Op checks are due to 7, 14 and 28 days after the surgery.

Cataract Surgery Discharge Instructions for Kesia Wong

21-Jun-07 your dog had cataract surgery to remove the cloudy lens in RIGHT eye. The surgery was performed by the most modern technique called "phacoemulsification" where the cloudy lens is removed through a small incision. This method makes use of a small probe that shatters the cataract into tiny pieces and then this same probe serves as a vacuum to remove the cataract pieces.

Your dog then had an artificial lens placed in the eye to replace the natural lens. We have found lens replacement to be quite valuable in obtaining sharper vision for our patients. You will receive an identification card that will specify the lens type, size and power.

Just as human cataract surgery, some patients regain vision immediately after surgery while others require the full six week healing process. You should not be discouraged if your dog does not seem to be see well right away - especially when the protective Elizabethan collar narrows the vision!

Recovery from The General Anaesthesia your dog should now be fully recovered from the anaesthetic and can be given normal amounts of food and water.

What To Look For Some redness or cloudiness near the incision at the top of the eye is to be expected. You should call us if you see the following: overall 'blueness' to the eye, severe squinting, significant resistant to, or pain when receiving medications, or severe redness. Approximately 3 to 6 weeks after surgery you may notice some redness and swelling on the top of the eye. This is due to the sutures dissolving. You may in some cases note slight clouding inside the pupil, this is not the cataract recurring, but slight opacification of the lens capsule. This usually has no effect on the dog's vision.

The Lamp On The Head WARNING! Cataract surgery is a delicate procedure! To prevent your dog from rubbing at the eye, a protective "elizabethan" collar has been placed. Some of your friends and family might make fun of your dog and call your dog "conehead"or "satellite dish" but pls keep the collar on at all times!

Your dog will be able to eat or drink, and sleep with the collar on, but if you feel that your dog is having difficulty, pls call the practice for suggestions.

THE COLLAR CAN BE REMOVED 7 days after the surgery.

Medications Pls ensure the eye is clean of all discharge before administering any medication to the eye. Pls contact our clinic if you do not have enough medication to last until your next visit. PLS BRING ALL MEDICATION WITH YOU TO EVERY APPOINTMENT FOLLOWING SURGERY.

Kesia is Back!

LOL! Our Kesia is back to Wong's Family! Last Friday I went to pick her up. When I reached the hospital and went into the so-called ward and asked the nurse is Kesia good girl today? Then she told me she was very obedient but... she kept making the soft sai nai sound... The nurse jokingly said that Kesia is sad cos her friends that went for the surgery had left. Left her only... Kesia was the 1st one to reach and the last one to leave. Hahahaha...

Can see that she was very eager to leave her ward... She has to wear the collar fir 7days after the surgery. Poor Ger! Hahahaha!

Mario Party 8

Bought a new Wii game, Mario Party 8, takes the social, strategic game play of board games and adds breaks for quick, action-oriented minigames. In the main mode, players travel across six boards in search of Stars, landing on spaces that are helpful (example: giving coins) or a hindrance (example: sending Bowser in to mess with the player). Several variations for these boards tweak the main goals to enhance game play for solo sessions, two-player games and three- to four-player games.

My New Hair Color

I went nearby my office there to dye my hair. Intend to touch up my roots that cost S$50. The lady told me the whole head cost S$80 why not getting it done completely. Then I think she is right! So I decided to dye the whole length as quite a long time I didn't change or dye my whole hair. I leave it to the lady to choose the color for me. Cos I lazy to choose. LOL. The base color is slightly lighter than my previous color, abit not used to it Hahaha like never dye on it cos the color came out to look similar with my natural base. Din blame her cos I told her I do not want bright colors. Plus I also do highlight to my hair Heehee...So vain hor. Cos color+highlight cost only S$120.

Overall not bad! Quite like the effects! =)

Sony Card Reader

Last Tuesday we went to the microwave system at Funan to get back the cheque and we straighted away banked in the cheque as their next door is a POSB Bank. I bought a card reader that cost S$39, previously Yong bought it at S$45 at another shop. Next time will not be going to that shop liao since the stuffs they are selling are more expensive.

Tomorrow going to the Mount Pleasant Hospital to purchase eye drop for Kesia to prepare for the operation. The eyedrop gonna use it 3 times a day, each time got to drop 2drops into Kesia's right eye. Think Kesia don't like the feeling. Cos the previous time before going to the consultation also need to apply it first and dislike the feeling Hahahah.

ASUS Laptop

Finally yong received the laptop on last Monday...But saw the laptop with full of dust and recovery disk is not seal up... We decided to ask for full refund..

Yesterday, we went to ask for refund. When we reached the place, sort of quite crowded so the manager also didn't argue with us and said that she need to call the boss to ask for permission. After calling, the boss agreed to return us the full amt. Due to the boss not there hence we need to go down tomorrow to pick up the cheque.

Now yong has to decide again which brand to choose LOL! Apple got new Macbook Pro. So nice! I like it so much! But I can't buy cos I already got 1 Mac Book (Tiger OS). So sad....

It is slimmer but weighs abt 2.54kg with battery installed due to 15".

It also has Backlit keyboard with ambient light sensors for automatic adjustment of keyboard illumination and screen brightness. Solid-state scrolling trackpad for precise cursor control; supports two-finger scrolling, tap, double-tap and drag capabilities. So Chio!

Scrolling Trackpad - MacBook Pro can tell if you’ve got one finger on the pedal, or two. With two, you can easily scroll around your documents or open contextual menus. And it’s easier now, thanks to a larger trackpad than the PowerBook G4.

Currently Apple has promotion. Student buy a Mac and a bonus iPod Nano. Sound attractive leh! Must persuade him to buy Mac LOL.
